Farmers use spraying to safeguard their crops, and it is one of the essential things they do. Farmers rely on a steady supply of fertilizers and pesticides to grow their crops. Agriculture has progressed tremendously in terms of technology, and the traditional agricultural approach has become obsolete. For farmers, agriculture has never been this straightforward. Some farmers choose organic farming over knowing how technology works since it is easier to practice agriculture the old way.
Agriculture is a massive industry. Several technologies are used to protect and produce crops. Spraying technology is one of the key priorities. Farmers should have confidence in the technology’s ability to assist them.
Now, before we proceed, let’s take a closer look at what we’re spraying! Farmers employ pesticides and fertilizers to protect their crops from insects and fungal diseases, which they do by spraying pesticides and growing the product.
Farmers used to carry, or should we say, toss fertilizers and pesticides by hand, which was dangerous to their health. Farmers are making the most of the present agricultural situation, particularly when it comes to spraying. Farmers can now use portable devices to spray fertilizers or other suitable liquids on their crops.
Customers that wish to use their existing sprayer and buy a new spray gun to spray to higher heights call us. Unfortunately, this is not the case: the system’s whole anatomy must be appropriate and intended for spraying tall trees. You won’t get the necessary distance if you don’t utilize the correct tank, pump, spray hose, or spray gun.
Spraying Tall Trees: 4 Essential Sprayer Parts
The sprayer has four major areas or elements that are necessary for obtaining vertical and horizontal distance. To overcome the problems of tall tree spraying, it’s essential to choose the correct parts for these four crucial areas.
1. Tank Capacity for Spraying Tall Trees
The size of the tank is essential to achieving greater spray distances. The physics can’t work if there isn’t enough volume in the tank. You’ll need a tank with a capacity of at least 200 gallons, although more significant is ideal in this case.
Rule of Thumb: Choose a tank size that is 5 to 6 times the pump’s flow rate; otherwise, cavitation will occur (air in the lines).
2. Engine and Pump
Long distances will require the use of a gas engine and a powerful pump. A diaphragm pump with a high GPM is your best bet.
Rule of Thumb: To achieve your system’s maximum height capacity, you’ll need both flow and pressure. Pumps with a medium to the high-pressure diaphragm and a maximum pressure of 500-700 psi are ideal. Centrifugal pumps with a high flow rate but low pressure is usually ineffective.
3. ID of the Spray Hose
With all of the pressure being forced through the pump and into the line, having a hose carrying the load is critical. A high-pressure agricultural hose is required!
Rule of Thumb: Match the hose’s ID (Internal Diameter) to the pump’s flow rate for the best distance. For example, if you have a 20 GPM pump, don’t use a 3/8″ ID hose since it would undermine the purpose of the greater flow rate. A 20 GPM pump should have an internal diameter of 1/2″ or 3/4″. You’ll get an extra 5-10 feet with the 3/4″ ID.
4. Spray Gun
The gun is the last element. You’ll be able to reach the tops of tall trees if you use a spray gun built for long-range, high pressure.
Rule of Thumb: Make sure the internal tubing and spray tips you’re utilizing are compatible. The spray tip orifice size, which determines the spray distance, is adjustable on most guns.
Put on the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) – PPE shields the body from harmful substances. Professional spray applicators should wear face, eye, skin, and hand protection to reduce the danger of damage or injury.
Final Words –
Agricultural equipment plays an essential role in the lives of farmers since it is one of the primary causes for the reduction in labor effort.
